The research team led by Dr. Michael Jensen involving 28 men and women as participants. For eight weeks, they gave the treatment and diet is the same on all the participants. They want to see growth in the body fat of participants.

The majority of participants had approximately 2.45 kg of fat in the upper body such as abdomen and chest. While the lower body such as buttocks, hips, and thighs about 1.5 kg. Measurements were made before and after 'quarantine period'.

In the present study revealed, there are differences in the fat cells are wrapped around the upper and lower body. Fat cells in the lower body contains natural anti-inflammatory agent that can stop the clogging of arteries.

As quoted by the Daily Mail, Jensen said the findings are challenged to find ways to increase the production of fat in the lower body without adding fat deposits in the upper body. "It's important to establish the body's protection and help prevent disease."

The findings, published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences may be able to explain the benefits of having a pear shaped body.
